HP has announced a new line of laptops, called the Envy which have been crowned as the thinnest laptops that the company has ever produced. These laptops will initially be available in two models which are the models with 13.1 and 15.1 inch backlit LED screens.

The Envy 13 shown in the picture measures only 0.8 inches in thickness, almost as thin as the Macbook Air which measures 0.76 inches. And the Envy 13 weighs 3.74 pounds and offers an optional “slice” battery which HP claims can last up to 18 hours.

The HP Envy laptops are “real” laptops instead of mere netbooks, powered by Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz chip instead of Atom processor. You also get a 3GB RAM, and a 512MB ATI Mobile Radeon HD graphics card.

These HP laptops also come with a multi-touch pad and offer other goodies including quick boot-up within few seconds, and quick access to Internet, photos, music and videos. This Envy 13 costs you $1,699 for a start.

The Envy 15, the model with 15.6 inch screen, is heavier, weighs 5.18 pounds, but comes with more powerful features. It allows RAM expansion up to 16GB but its weight is only little heavier than its 13-inch brother and costs only $100 more, with a price starts at $1,799. Both models come with the HP “Beats Audio”, which HP claims as the most powerful audio experience at a premium netbook line.
