Sharp Solar Cellphone
Sharp has also got a solar-powered mobile phone in its line, codenamed 936SH which comes in a clamshell style with a solar panel on its cover. This Sharp solar phone supports high-speed HSDPA/UMTS connecitivity, comes equipped with a 3 inch FWVGA LCD screen.
The Sharp 936H also has a 8 megapixel camera at its back, which is good enough for most shots that you’ll take with a cellphone. This solar phone has also picked up one of the strengths of the Sharp mobile phones i.e. being waterproof and with an IPX5/7 rating.
The phone’s solar panel claims to be able to provide 1 minute of talk time or 2 hours of standby for every 10 minutes exposed to the sun for charging. Although it’s only a minute of talk time, but it could be useful during emergency which you just need to expose it to the sun for 10 minutes to be sufficient to make a call. Since it’s a Sharp phone, it’s mostly destined for Japan only. No indication whether it’ll get to the US or UK.
