Netgear Internet Connection Kit
Netgear has announced their Home Theater Internet Connection Kit, which is able to convert all the electrical wall outlets of your home into Ethernet network points. Meaning these wall outlets will allow Ethernet-enabled devices or equipments to hook up to it and form a small home LAN that lets them communicate to each other
The device is just an Ethernet over powerline system which allows you to tap on the existing power lines of your home to transmit Ethernet signals. There is no hassle of having to pull cables for setting yup a mini wired LAN in your home (If you’re one skeptical about WiFi). This allows Ethernet-enabled home appliances or equipments such as HDTV or set-top boxes to use the powerline to transfer data or stream contents to and from each other or from the Internet via a router.
The NetGear Internet connection kit offers maximum data transfer speeds of up to 200Mbps, which is a speed that is comfortable for various applications including VOIP, online gaming and HD video streaming. The Netgear device has also been incorporated with QoS (Quality of Service), which allocates higher bandwidth to high-priority applications automatically. This kit also comes with a push-to-secure feature which needs only a push of a button to lock down the entire network. This kit is available now and costs only $180
