Samsung have prepared a ruggedized cellphone, Samsung a657 for the AT&T. The a657 is designed to be tough enough to withstand the harshest conditions and most demanding users.
The Samsung a657 also has the Push to Talk (PTT) capabilities, which is similar to previous models of Samsung’s rugged models. Apparently, as shown in the picture above, the phone has built-in GPS and it features the AT&T Navigator and backed by a dedicated GPS key.
The a657 works in quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) for GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. It’s in dual band (850/1900 MHz) for 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. It has a 76 x 220 pixels display with 262K colors. Other goodies include built-in flashlight, email, instant messaging, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 100MB internal memory and supports microSDHC card up to 16GB for expansion.
The battery can last up to 3 hours for talk time and up to 10.5 days while on standby. The entire phone measures 4.53 x 2.05 x 0.77 inches and weighs 4.34 ounces. The Samsung a657 is currently available on AT&T’s business webpage, but is not available for purchase yet.
